Fellowship Programs:

Sports Medicine Fellowship

Thomas Trojian, MD is director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship sponsored by the Department of Family Medicine. As a one year fellowship, the two fellows assist with the care of athletes at the University of Connecticut, perform cardiac stress tests at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, and learns orthopedics.

Faculty Development Fellowship

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and the Department of Family Medicine co-sponsor a fourth-year fellowship focusing on administrative and teaching skills, continued development of clinical skills and the opportunity to extensively pursue a particular clinical skill or interest. Over the years, fellows have focused on teaching activities and have developed unique combined fellowships.

Geriatric Fellowship

The University of Connecticut's Center on Aging sponsors a two-year fellowship in geriatric medicine for family physicians, internists and psychiatrists. Fellows develop clinical skills in caring for the elderly and learn research skills to execute a major publishable research project. The family medicine fellows are resources for our integrated geriatric curriculum, which occurs in a geriatric hospital unit, ambulatory practice and assessment center, skilled nursing facility, and the patients' homes. For more information go to Geriatric web-site.  Several of our recent residency graduates have completed the UCONN geriatric fellowship (see alumni page).
